ACID CASEIN

Arrabawn’s attrition-dried Acid Casein is a highly purified protein derived from the milk of cows reared on our grass-fed farms, which are located in one of the world’s finest dairying regions.

Our pasteurised milk is treated to extract the casein protein at our state-of-the-art casein facility in Nenagh. The casein protein is dried to a very fine powder, with small particle size of mesh 90.

Our customers value the clean, neutral flavour of our acid casein from this process as well as the premium nutritional value of the product in terms of high protein, with no fat, cholesterol or sugar.

Our world-class product acts as a functional ingredient and also for protein enrichment in food applications. It is used in Infant Nutrition, Sports nutrition, Protein Bars, Confectionary, Coffee Creamers and Whiteners, Cream liquors, Processed and analogue imitation cheeses, among other products.

ARRABAWN WHEY

Acid Whey is approximately 9% whey protein and includes lactose and a variety of beneficial amino acids that have the capacity to refine, improve and cut costs in many applications.

Unlike the sweet whey that is produced from cheese, Arrabawn Whey is flavour neutral and therefore, does not require flavour enhancers to mask taste but still delivers the crucial whey or whey solids component.

Our Arrabawn Whey is used in products such as chocolate, ice cream, bakery including biscuits and in nutritional supplements.

BUTTER

Arrabawn has since 1913 been producing premium butter from milk that is supplied from grass-fed cows reared on some of the richest dairying pastures in the world. 

Our production methods may have advanced considerably over the years, but the one constant has been quality.

From our first butters of over a century ago to the ‘Best in Class’ win at the world championships in 2004 and through to the present day, quality has been insisted on across our operations, from our dairy farmers right through to our world-class processing plant.

We produce thousands of tons of butter annually that is exported across the world in several varieties, from Salted sweet cream and unsalted sweet cream to lactic butter.

We are masters of the craft, ensuring a perfect blend of spreadability and taste from a butter that tastes as rich as it looks.  Its gleaming golden colour is as a result of the fertile pastures grazed by our farmers’ cows, ensuring high levels of conjugated linoleic acids (CLAs), vitamin A, Beta Carotene and Omega 3. Our butter is Halal.

CASEINATE

Arrabawn Caseinate is derived from further processing of our acid casein. It is a natural and slow digestible protein source with a wide variety of applications. The milk protein is dispersible and fully water soluble and shows excellent functional properties. Our customers rate our amino acid profile and emulsification abilities of our grass fed caseinates as key attributes of the product.

Arrabawn Caseinates are also valued for their source of protein, high aeration capacity, their high fat and water binding capacity, while also maintaining freeze/ thaw stability. Variety’s available include Sodium Caseinate, Calcium Caseinate and more.

Our Caseinates are used in the following:

  • Yogurts For functions including Low Viscosity and Waterbinding,
  • Coffee Whitener/ Cream Liqueurs: Emulsification, Dispersibility, Colour, Flavour.
  • Low fat Spreads, salad dressing: Emulsification Low Viscosity, Waterbinding
  • Processed Meats: Emulsification, water binding, adhesion, firmness
  • Bakery: Water binding, uniform fat dispersion, Improves: nutrient value of flours (Lysine), workability of dough (texture)
  • Processed / cream Cheeses: Water binding, emulsification

SKIM MILK POWDER

Because our grass-fed cows graze what are among the world’s very best dairy pastures, our skim milk powder (SMP) is a premium product and produced from the highest quality milk of the peak summer months.  Our Skim Milk Powder is processed on the day of arrival at our BRC accredited facility in Nenagh, Co. Tipperary to ensure low spore counts. We produce SMP from both medium and high heatforms, depending on customer needs. We also vary packaging size and protein levels, again in accordance with the customer’s requirements.

Our Skimmed Milk Powder is used in a variety of applications including:
